Technique & Suggestions
It may take several cuttings over a period of days or weeks to get your pet's nails short enough if it has been a long time since they were trimmed, but the QuickFinder® will make it easy .
Bring out the QuickFinder® ahead of time and let your dog become familiar with it. It is important that you remain calm so your dog will remain calm. A little gentle reassurance can go a long way. Be firm with your pet, but do not forcefully restrain it.
If you are able, begin clipping your dog's nail while it is still a puppy. If your dog does not take to clipping at first, begin with clipping a single nail. With time and positive reinforcement your dog will tolerate clipping. You may try putting your dog on its back during clipping. This not only makes the nails more accessible to you, but also puts the dog in a submissive position.
In some extreme cases, biting dogs may require a muzzle.
